Summer Activities You Can Do in NWA
Looking for ways to stay entertained this summer? Look no further! NWA living is all about adventure – whether it’s a new cultural experience, trying a tasty new cuisine, or exploring some of our beautiful national parks and trails, you’ll find so many things to do you’ll never be able to fit them into just one summer.
Splash into Adventure at NWA's Aquatic OasisCool Off
A huge part of the NWA lifestyle is chilling by or in the water. There are urban splash zones like The Fountains at Lawrence Plaza in Bentonville, the Rogers Aquatic Center, The Jones Center in Springdale, and The Family Aquatic Center in Siloam Springs.
NWA is also famous for our clean and family-friendy natural water attractions. Beaver Lake is the perfect place to swim, boat, and water-ski. The Buffalo National River is great for floating and canoeing – and the chilly water will feel perfect after a long hike around one of the many trails.
Practice Your Swing
NWA living provides award-winning golf courses across the region. Plush Bermuda fairways and rolling hills, hardwood forests, and babbling brooks make for a one-of-a-kind scenic experience while you tee off. Courses in Bella Vista Village and Holiday Island, along with Stonebridge Meadows in Fayetteville, Prairie Creek Country Club in Rogers and The Creeks in Cave Springs are perfect places to start exploring!
Lions, Tigers, and Bears!
The Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge in Eureka Springs is a refuge for rescued tigers, lions, and other exotic creatures held in captivity or kept as pets before being abandoned. You can meet the curator, tour the habitats, and even stay in a lodge on-site for an overnight trip! They say you can hear the lions roaring for breakfast in the morning – talk about an alarm clock! Learn about big cats and help support their rescue shelter by visiting.
Culture Yourself
One of the best things about NWA living is the easy access to culture of all kinds. NWA is home to museums, art galleries, music venues, concert halls, and theaters that will enrich your mind and your spirit. The world-famous Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art is located in NWA, along with the 21c Museum Hotel, Fayetteville Underground, Windgate Visual Arts Galleries at JBU, Eureka Springs Downtown District and Arts Center of the Ozarks. And that’s just a starter list.
Be Amazed
The Scott Family Amazeum in Bentonville is a space for exploration, learning, and fun. It’s a 50,000 sq ft exhibit that includes learning spaces, a Tinkering Hub, a climbable canopy tree, a water area and hands-on wet lab, and an outdoor playscape! Take your kiddos and let them wear themselves out while you stroll behind and entertain yourself with the learning modules that cover everything from nature to architecture. Kids of all ages welcome. You’re never too old to learn.
Throw Down at the Hoe Down
If you’re a fan of cowboys and country music, you’ll love the Annual Rodeo of the Ozarks in Springdale. It lasts for four days and showcases more than 500 of the best cowboys, rough stock, rodeo clowns, and rodeo talent in the nation! The Rodeo of the Ozarks is considered to be one of the top outdoor rodeos in the country. So throw on your best pair of boots and join us for some old-fashioned, country fun!
